announcing the 2018-2019 season!

It's finally time! We are ready to announce our 2018-2019 season! It's a pretty swell line up of theatre that matters, featuring some spectacular artists. We can't wait to see you there!

KIM'S CONVENIENCE by Ins Choi • Sept 7-Oct 6

Mr. Kim is proud of his store, Kim’s Convenience, the product of all his work since immigrating from Korea. But as gentrification threatens the future of the store and his children rebel, he must decide what kind of legacy he wants to leave his family. The hysterically funny, moving play that inspired the hit TV show. Advisory: Strong language.

“What is my story? What is story of Mr. Kim? My whole life I doing store.”

THE WOLVES by Sarah DeLappe • Oct 19-Nov 10
a guest production by With a Spoon Theatre in association with Rumble Theatre

A pack of adolescent girls prepares for battle on the soccer field. As they grapple with everything from pop culture to politics, the girls establish their identities as individuals and as a team. Who will come out on top? Advisory: Strong language and adult themes.

“Now let’s push ourselves today, push further than you think you can and keep on pushing.”

THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE adapted from the novel by C.S. Lewis by Ron Reed • Nov 30-Dec 29

Peter and Lucy Pevensie may have grown up, but adult life in London can never compare to their adventures in Narnia. When they return to the wardrobe where their story began, they get caught up in reminiscence and relive their journey through a magical land.

“A dream so beautiful, you remember it your entire life, always wishing you could get inside that dream again.”

CHRISTMAS PRESENCE • Dec 9-10, 16-18 (Valley: Dec 22)

Pacific Theatre’s favourite Christmas tradition. With poems and prose that range from the heartfelt to the hilarious mixed in with songs both old and new, Christmas Presence is an intimate and warm way to usher in the holiday spirit.

The un-slickest Christmas show in town!

A PRAYER FOR OWEN MEANY adapted from the novel by John Irving by Simon Bent • Jan 18-Feb 9
a guest production by Ensemble Theatre Company

Owen Meany believes he is an instrument of God. As he and his best friend John navigate the turbulent America of the 1960’s, Owen pulls the strings of a plan invisible to everyone but him and – perhaps – God. An epic tale of faith, absurdity and the power of a single voice. Advisory: Strong language.

“I am doomed to remember a boy with a wrecked voice.”

JESUS FREAK by Peter Boychuk • Mar 1-23

The Campbell family prides themselves on their West Coast open-mindedness – from political resistance to pot, nothing is off the table. But when their daughter Clara comes home and announces she’s become a Christian, their tolerance is put to the test. Advisory: Strong language.

“I realized that if I was wrong about that, maybe I was wrong about a lot of things.”

CHERRY DOCS by David Gow • Apr 5-20
a guest production by Cave Canem Productions

Danny is an ambitious Jewish defense lawyer who believes in the common good. When he is assigned the case of a young neo-Nazi accused of murder, Danny finds himself defending the life of a man who wishes him dead. Advisory: Strong language, racial slurs.

“In an ideal world I’d see you eliminated. In this world I need you more than anyone.”

THE CAKE by Bekah Brunstetter • May 17-June 8

Della believes that the secret to a good cake and a good life is simple: just follow the rules. When her best friend’s daughter Jen asks her to make her wedding cake, she is overjoyed… until she learns that there will be not one bride, but two. Suddenly, Della is working without a recipe as her beliefs and emotions come into sharp conflict. Advisory: Strong language, nudity.

“I’m not talking about all them. I am talking about one person, who I love, who I know.”

NOTE: All performances, dates, and artists are subject to change.
